The Westchester Alphas Educational Foundation (WAEF), Inc. was established by members of the Eta Zeta Lambda chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. In 2001 the Foundation was incorporated in the State of New York. The Eta Zeta Lambda Educational Foundation 501 (c) 3 was established on March 23, 2011.


On August 15, 2011, The name was changed to the Next Level Educational Foundation inc. to distinguish itself from the Eta Zeta Lambda chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. On February 22, 2013, the foundation, became the Westchester Alphas Educational Foundation, Inc. to explicitly link the mission of the Foundation to Westchester County. 

Since 2001, the Westchester Alphas Educational Foundation, Inc. has awarded scholarships and book awards to deserving young men graduating from Westchester County New York high schools. In choosing recipients, Board members hold firm to several ideals: (1) demonstrated academic excellence, (2) commitment to community service (3) and leadership. ​

Past recipients of the scholarships and book awards have attended: Pennsylvania State University, Princeton University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
